Say a rosary using the Mysteries of Advent
The First Mystery: The Annunciation
The angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David, and the Virgin’s name was Mary. And coming to her, he said, “Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you.”…The the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God. Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a Son, and you shall name Him Jesus. He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give Him the throne of David his father, and He will rule over the house of Jacob forever, and of His kingdom there will be no end.” (Luke 1:26-28, 30-33)
The Second Mystery: The Fiat
Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I have no relations with a man?” And the Angel said to her in reply, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will over shadow you. Therefore the Child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God…for nothing is impossible for God.” Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.” (Luke 1:34-35, 37-38)
The Third Mystery: The Visitation
When Elizabeth heard Mary’s greeting, the infant leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth, filled with the Holy Spirit, cried out in a loud voice and said, “Most blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how does this happen to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? For the moment the sound of your greeting reached my ears, the infant in my womb leaped for joy. Blessed are you who believed that what was spoken to you by the Lord would be fulfilled.” (Luke 1:41-45)
The Fourth Mystery: The Journey to Bethlehem
In those days a decree went out from Caesar Augstus that the world should be enrolled…So all went…each from his own town. And Joseph too went up from Galilee from the town of Nazareth to Judea, to the city of David that is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, to be enrolled with Mary, his betrothed, who was with child. (Luke 2:1, 3-5)
The Fifth Mystery: The Child is Born
The angel of the Lord appeared to [the shepherds] and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were struck with great fear. The angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all people. For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is the Messiah and Lord. And this will be a sign for you: you will find an infant lying in a manger.” And suddenly there was a multitude of the heavenly host with the angel, praising God and saying:
“Glory to God in the highest and on earth peace to those on whom His favor rests.” (Luke 2:9-14)

Instead we have begun planning a talk on “God’s Love and the Love of the Family” for Valentine’s Day. I am sorry for the inconvenience.
Halloween… All Hallows Eve… the Eve of All that is Holy… has been mistaken for a day that has evil intent and a day in which we should no longer celebrate with the joy and innocence of children. To the contrary, Halloween is a day in which we remember that Jesus destroyed death from the cross. Because of this redemption, the gates of heaven are open, and death is no more.
The symbols of Halloween are the skeletons and jack-o-lanterns because these are shells without life in them. The seeds of eternal life in a skeleton is the immortal soul, the seeds of the pumpkin are…well… the seeds. The soul lives forever, and the pumpkin seeds are replanted to make the next generation of pumpkins. DEATH IS NO MORE!!!
This is a time of rejoicing! It’s a rememberance of Easter six months later! And how do we celebrate Easter? MASS & CHOCOLATE! In the fall we are so overcome with the opportunity to join the saints of old in prayer and in song on All Saints Day, that our joy spills over and we hand out chocolate from our doorsteps to every child that passes!
This Halloween let us remember Christ’s love for us and our love for each other! Let us truly celebrate the Eve of All that is Holy by sending out our saints-in-the-making to receive the gifts the community longs to give. Let us also give generously of our gifts to those who come to our door.
We deeply regret the cancellation of any event. However, with flu season upon us, even the members of Cor Sanctum must pause to recover.

We are very sorry Stephen could not participate in the vocation fair at Skutt Catholic High School. However, Jennifer Gaddie, Michael Buell, Nicholas and Dominic Graycachea were a big hit! In 2005 Ocotber 1st landed on a Saturday, making it the VERY popular wedding day. It is the feast of St. Therese, the Martyr of Love and, as the first Saturday, the Feast of the Holy Protection of the Blessed Mother.

I have the rare privilage, as editor of the Cor Sanctum website, to be the first to review the latest album. Titled For Life… this CD touches on topics such as God’s love, discerning vocations, the joy of children, standing up to peer pressure, and the consequences of following the crowd.
In my relatively brief association with the band, I have had the opportunity to experience many performances and practice sessions. (It’s good to be the editor.) One of the first songs I heard was a live performance of “If Love Is a Game.” It made me think of all the high school parties I didn’t attend but heard about in homeroom the following Monday. These tales were filled with the excuse, Everyone else was doing it. But if everyone else jumped off a cliff, would you do it, too? Maybe. “If Love Is a Game” illustrates that a person doesn’t have to fall victuim to peer pressure. A person can not only resist, but also help others to do the right thing as well.
“Man and Wife” was written to illustrate the sanctity of marriage. Marriage isn’t about a big party, a pretty dress, and lots of gifts. It is about a man and woman created equal and opposite being joined to form a single and complete entity who shares in the gift of God’s creation. There is a line that describes Adam’s response to Eve: “Never doubt that God is good!”
God doesn’t need people to make more people. God made dirt, then he made Adam from dirt, then he made Eve out of Adam’s rib. (For the environemtalists out there, that makes the Earth our sister–NOT our mother! She is just as much a creature as we are!) God then gave us the gift of participation in CREATION.
When a child is conceived in the womb, a new soul blinks into existance. This child carries with him or her the potential for greatness. Because of contraception, abortion, and infanticide, we have lost generations of children worldwide. Someone once asked me if I thought there would be another Shakespeare, another Beethoven, another Thomas Jefferson, another Mother Teresa and so on. I replied, Not at the rate we’re going. We pray for solutions to our problems, God sends children with the gifts to solve them, then we kill those children in the womb. That is why our world seems so grim. The doctors and scientists who were given the gifts to cure our epidemics have been murdered. Our artists and musicians who would have uplifted us and given us the hope we needed to make positive changes were harvested for fetal stem-cell research. Our priests, bishops, and religious who would have made our current shortage a far-away imagining were deemed inconvenient and aborted on the way to the grocery store. We casually kill children and believe if we don’t talk about it, it will all be okay.
It isn’t okay.

Those PERSONALLY OPPOSED, BUT WHO AM I TO TELL SOMEONE ELSE HOW TO LIVE HER LIFE… Why is killing children, the elderly, and the weak a “family issue”, when robbing banks, stealing cars, and purse-snatching are criminal offenses? Why is stuff more important than the lives of the innocent?
We have the choice to be silent… but it’s wrong.
