Welcome to Pro Sanctity’s Holiness Helpers on Spirit 102.7. I’m Nancy Tefft, and this is “May: A Celebration of Mary in Music.” Today’s theme is a meditation on how we, as Mary’s children, conduct ourselves in the world but not of the world.
In the beginning God created man and woman to be loved perfectly and to then love each other without limits. After the Fall sin distracted humankind from perfect love. That is not to say it was not there. We just were not able to recognize it in our lives.
God sent His only Son to draw us closer to Himself. We see the overtures of love, but the world is loud. It is sometimes difficult to believe this love is not only real, but that it is for us as individuals, as a family, and as a community of faith.
We are called to be apostles, missionaries of Christ. Our martyrdom may not be swords and arrows, but the distancing of our families and friends. It is easier to be silent and hope someone else will stand up in our place, but it’s wrong.
Instead we must be leaders. We must be servants. We must live for the next world, where our Heavenly Mother will greet us at the door with a ready smile and open arms. In the meantime, let us listen to her lullaby and be at peace.

Welcome to Pro Sanctity’s Holiness Helpers on Spirit 102.7. I’m Nancy Tefft, and this is “May: A Celebration of Mary in Music.” Today’s theme is a meditation on the life of Mary and how her choices reflected Christ’s presence within her.
As she prayed alone in her room, an angel appeared to her and asked her to be the Mother of God. Her faith was so strong that she did not even consider what this meant for herself. God’s Will be done.
Next she went to visit her cousin Elizabeth. Elizabeth was humbled by Mary’s presence, but Mary replied, “My soul is magnified by the Lord,” always directing the adoration back to Jesus where it belongs.
Then there was the long and difficult journey to Bethlehem and delivering in a stable. God’s Will be done. She did not fuss; she was not upset. She was grateful for the stable, where she could rest.
Later, she stood at the Cross. She was a pillar of strength watching her Son suffer for all humankind. She did not lament the unfairness of it all. God’s Will be done.
Finally, at the end of her Earthly life, she was assumed into Heaven and crowned Queen of Heaven and Earth. As Mother of all creation–the New Eve–she was made advocate and intercessor. She brings our petitions to her Son and keeps us in line in turn.
