Welcome to Pro Sanctity’s Holiness Helpers on Spirit 102.7.  I’m Nancy Tefft, and this is “June: A Celebration of the Month of the Founder of the Pro Sanctity Movement.”  Servant of God, Bishop Giaquinta wrote extensively about the Universal Call to Holiness.  He taught in the 1950s what Pope John Paul II made an integral part of his papacy 20 years later: and that is we are all called to give the maximum of ourselves to God and our neighbor.  We are all called to be saints.

Throughout his writings, he looked at our relationship with Christ.  God loves us no matter what we do.  If we are to answer God’s call to sainthood, we must follow the example of the saints, believe in God’s love for us, cast out into the deep, go to the Holy Spirit for help along the way, and ultimately come to the Cenacle to contemplate Christ.

Cor Sanctum

1:05 pm early afternoon heart renewal

Cor Sanctum founder, Stephen Tefft, is a prolific composer with over 1000 songs to his credit.  Founded in 1999, the band, Cor Sanctum, has played in a variety of venues, including Mead, NE, and World Youth Day in Germany in 2005.  Says Tefft, “. . . holiness is universal.  If you listen to all the songs, that’s the main theme – helping people get to heaven,” he said. “How can we get to heaven?  What more can we give to God?” Rick Smith on percussion, Michael Buell on guitar and Jen Gaddie on vocals join Tefft in forming the faith-based group. “We just get together and it flows out of us for the most part,” Gaddie said. “[It's] the grace of God, I think.” While Scripture and prayers inspire the lyrics, the band’s sound comes from a variety of different genres and is anything from quiet reflective to get-up-and-dance praise, Tefft said. The likes of John Denver, Simon and Garfunkel and other folk-based sounds can be heard in Cor Sanctum’s music.

Social Contradiction

Welcome to Pro Sanctity’s Holiness Helpers on Spirit 102.7.  I’m Nancy Tefft and this is “May: A Celebration of Mary in Music.”  Today’s theme is Mary our Mother.  What is it about the Blessed Mother that makes her MOM?  We think of her as the Mother of God, but we forget that she was the mother of a little boy.  She was the Mommy of Baby Jesus.  She kissed boo-boos, dried tears, and held her baby close.  You don’t think there were nights Jesus didn’t want to go to bed?  She told stories, sang lullabies, she did everything a Mom does.  And… she continues to do the same for us.  It all started with a single “yes,” that changed the world as we know it.  Just as every mother’s yes to life, changes the world. So don’t forget to thank your Mommy in Heaven.  Go to her when you have a boo-boo or tears that need to be dried or when you need to be held close.  She is there for you as every good mommy should be.

Welcome to Pro Sanctity’s Holiness Helpers on Spirit 102.7.  I’m Nancy Tefft and this is “May: A Celebration of Mary in Music.”  Today’s theme is a mediation on how we as Mary’s children are sent out as missionaries of love.  Being a child of the Mother of God is no small task.  We are called to love our enemies and pray for our persecutors.  We must love as God loves.  We must serve others in love, for without love, there is nothing.  But what does it mean to love and to serve?  Jesus told His apostles at the Last Supper that they must love one another as He has loved them, and true love can only be expressed through sacrifice.  The love we give to one another makes us a family, all sisters and brothers.  As children of Mary, we must remember that God our Father is our destination, and He waits for us with loving patience.  In the meantime we her children come to her to pledge ourselves anew, “Pray for us, O Mother of God!”
