One of the problems Catholic musicians face today is the preconceived notion of what Catholic music is. Generally, Catholic Praise is synonomous with electric pianos and the St. Louis Jesuits. Anyone who is a fan of true Catholic Praise knows that is some but not all of what is out there.
How do we spread the word?
Cor Sanctum is a versitle group that performs Gregorian Chant for Masses, acoustic/folk for parish concerts, and good old fashioned rock ‘n roll for youth programs… and they do these styles very well. Stephen, as songwriter and arranger, understands the value of making the delivery of the message fit the audience receiving it. If a person dismisses the style of music, how can the lyrics get through? Stephen has written 990 songs to not only get the message through, but also get it through to anyone he meets.
For the past ten years Cor Sanctum has endeavored to bring uplifting music to its audiences. The band has helped people understand and internalize Church teachings and has inspired people to a deeper relationship with the Lord.
The website offers an added venue for the music. From here the band can offer tools in which to use the music in everyday life. Educator’s Corner illustrates how the songs can offer suppliments to catechism lessons. Culture of Holiness offers advice on day to day societal troubles and how to build a culture of holiness, one household at a time. There are tributes to saints, featured albums, and stories of past gigs, each designed to highlight the music in a different way than before.
