Was privileged to be able to attend a talk by Dr. James Lamb, the National Director of Lutherans for Life, over my lunch period today. I don’t always love my job, but I love my workplace! It was an excellent talk on witnessing Life to this culture of Death. Makes me realize how little I do to share the Gospel… Thus I share this again.
Silent (see lyrics)
I don’t perform this song very often. I guess I lack courage. It’s not so much that I care what others might think of me, although no one really wants to be known as the bad guy. I do, however, worry about the possible repercussions for those I love. I don’t want to embarrass my wife, my children, my parents and siblings… not to mention my friends, my Church and those I respect and love. To put it another way, I have already been denied and kicked out of venues for the Christian content of my songs. I understand the anti-christian discrimination of the world, albeit in a miniscule way. I see where our culture is headed in this regard and I fear for my family. I don’t want to stand out as “that sort of person” (whatever “that sort” might be) if it could cause harm to my loved ones.
To get to the root of it: I lack trust in God and His providence.
Thus: Easier To Run (see lyrics)
We’re called to be courageous. We’re called to be fearless. Far too often we fail, but when we fall we’re called to get back up and try to do better.
